Sumedh Gostu
CEO and cofounder
Sumedh Gostu is the CEO and Co-Founder of FAST Metals, bringing over 15 years of experience spanning hydrometallurgical research, commercial development, and large-scale operations in the metals and mining industry. FAST Metals is built directly on his Ph.D. research at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where he developed a low-temperature process to extract iron, aluminum, titanium, and rare earth elements from bauxite residue (red mud). Prior to founding FAST Metals, Sumedh served as Technical Risk Manager and Hydrometallurgy Expert at Glencore, where he led technical due diligence on major M&A transactions, oversaw a $500 million lithium battery recycling hub in Europe, the largest of its kind in the world, and patented technology for LFP black mass recycling. He also held senior research and commercial roles at Air Liquide, where he generated innovative process metallurgy solutions across gold, copper, and lithium extraction and drove business development across the EV battery supply chain. An Activate Fellow and recognized leader in critical minerals innovation, Sumedh combines deep technical expertise with proven commercial acumen to advance FAST Metals' mission of turning one of the world's most hazardous waste streams into a domestic source of critical minerals.
Anthony Staley
Cofounder
Anthony Staley is the Executive Advisor and Co-Founder of FAST Metals, bringing over 25 years of experience leading large-scale metals and mining operations, scaling technologies from pilot to commercial production, and transforming distressed assets into high-performing businesses. Most recently, Anthony served as CEO of Nyrstar's U.S. Operations, where he led the strategic restructuring and operational recovery of five mining operations, two mineral processing facilities, and the last remaining primary zinc smelter in the United States, culminating in the successful sale of the business to Korea Zinc. Prior to Nyrstar, he served as Vice President of North America HUB at Li-Cycle, where he provided financial and operational leadership for a nearly $900 million lithium battery recycling facility, one of the most technically advanced hydrometallurgical operations in the world. His earlier career includes executive roles at Doe Run, where he managed one of the world's largest single-site lead smelters, and at American Zinc Recycling, where he oversaw the startup and operations of a $600 million new-technology zinc processing facility, as well as over six years at Freeport-McMoRan managing hydrometallurgical operations at the largest copper producer in North America. Anthony's unparalleled track record of scaling complex metallurgical operations, driving commercial outcomes in challenging environments, and unlocking value from distressed assets makes him an invaluable force behind FAST Metals' mission to commercialize critical mineral recovery from industrial waste streams.

Terry McNulty
Advisor
Terence P. ("Terry") McNulty is an Advisor to FAST Metals and one of the most distinguished figures in the history of minerals processing and extractive metallurgy, holding degrees from Stanford University, Montana School of Mines, and a doctorate in Metallurgical Engineering from the Colorado School of Mines. Terry is the inventor of the McNulty Ramp-Up Curve, widely regarded as the gold standard framework for scaling chemical and metallurgical operations from pilot to commercial production, a methodology that has shaped how the global mining industry approaches technology commissioning and scale-up for decades. His career spans over 60 years of leadership across research, operations, and consulting, including 20 years at The Anaconda Company, senior roles at Kerr-McGee Chemical Corporation and Hazen Research, and the founding of T.P. McNulty and Associates, a global consulting firm serving the world's leading mining and minerals processing companies. Terry has authored 53 technical papers and textbook chapters, holds two patents in copper metallurgy, and has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, one of the highest honors in the engineering profession, as well as receiving the Robert H. Richards Award from AIME for distinction in mineral processing and the Distinguished Career Achievement Medal from Colorado School of Mines. His unrivaled expertise in technology scale-up and commercial plant commissioning makes him an extraordinarily valuable advisor to FAST Metals as we advance our hydrometallurgical process from pilot to commercial deployment.
Peter Stahley
Advisor
Peter is an Advisor to FAST Metals, bringing a rare combination of deep technical expertise and senior government experience that sits at the direct intersection of critical minerals policy, energy, and national security. He currently serves as a Senior Vice President at Cassidy & Associates, one of Washington's leading bipartisan government relations firms, where he develops and deploys public policy strategies for clients navigating highly strategic sectors including mining, critical minerals, and national security supply chains.

Previously, Peter served as a Professional Staff Member on the U.S. Senate Committee on Energy & Natural Resources under Senator Joe Manchin, where he was directly responsible for major provisions of both the Inflation Reduction Act and the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, including federal energy leasing, mining, and supply chain initiatives, as well as IRA critical mineral tax credits, and federal energy and mineral project permitting reform. His career also includes more than a decade as a Civil Engineer and Project Manager both in the private sector and with the National Park Service in Alaska, where he managed complex infrastructure projects across Denali, Katmai, Kenai Fjords, and Wrangell-St. Elias National Parks, giving him a firsthand understanding of the federal regulatory and permitting landscape that governs resource development in the United States.
